JACKSONVILLE – Jacksonville State freshmen Igor Santos and Ralphaela Lima were named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Male and Female Tennis Athletes of the Week released by the league office on Wednesday.

Santos went 4-0 playing No. 4 through No. 6 singles last week. He was 2-0 at No. 5 including a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, win to clinch the Gamecocks, 4-3, win over Chattanooga. The Brazil, native also posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles for the week.

Lima went 2-1 on the week and 1-0 in OVC play at No. 6 singles and was 3-1 in doubles with teammate Kimberly Ferris. Lima’s two wins were match-clinching victories against Chattanooga and Austin Peay, both 4-3 wins for the Gamecocks.

Jacksonville State women host UT Martin on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the JSU Tennis courts before both teams hit the road for spring break in Charleston, S.C.
